Before You Begin: About SYEP
Each summer, for 5 or 7 weeks, eligible youth ages 14–17 (and up to age 22 for youth with disabilities) are matched with work opportunities across a variety of sectors. Youth are paid $13/hour through program funds, at no expense to host sites. Youth work 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. After applying and completing the eligibility screening process, qualified youth participate in job readiness training. Through partnerships like yours, participants receive mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to professional environments that prepare them for future employment.
